Turin Clean Up Day —

Ecological Walk in Turin’s Parks.

24 September 2023

World Clean Up Day · Urban green, community and collective action.

On 24 September 2023, on the occasion of World Clean Up Day, Green Growth Generation launched the first Ecological Walk through Turin’s parks — an urban waste collection event that brought together citizens, families, children and local environmental partners in a simple but powerful act of care for public spaces.

A concrete action born from the conviction that small gestures have even more value when shared — and that a new vision of the relationship between city and nature can begin precisely here: from a morning together, in neighbourhood parks, with a bag in hand and open eyes.

The event — the first Ecological Walk

The initiative brought together citizens, families and children from the Aurora neighbourhood alongside a network of environmental organisations and partners from the Torino Social Impact network, members of the Community of Practice on Circular Economy: OffGrid Italia, Esserci s.c.s., BiciTorino, Panacea Torino, Atelier Riforma, Mercato Circolare

Children and parents recovered plastic caught between tree roots. Young people teamed up to remove as many cigarette butts as possible. Different generations united for a common cause: the protection of our urban environment.

Why Clean Up Day matters

At Green Growth Generation we believe a new way of seeing things can start from the simplest actions: choosing a reusable bottle over plastic, picking up litter from the ground, cycling instead of driving. Small daily gestures that each of us can take to help the planet.

But a small gesture has even more value when shared. Turin Clean Up Day is exactly that — an invitation to transform environmental care into a collective, visible and contagious act, capable of strengthening the sense of community and shared responsibility towards urban public spaces.

World Clean Up Day is a global movement that every year, on the fourth Saturday of September, mobilises millions of volunteers in over 190 countries to clean parks, streets, beaches and forests — a signal that change starts from the ground up, from each of us.

The next edition

The initiative will be relaunched in spring, together with Torino Social Impact partners from the Community of Practice on Circular Economy.
